Infineon closes ams OSRAM sensor acquisition, adds EUR230 million in annual revenue.
Infineon Technologies has successfully completed the acquisition of the non-optical analog and mixed-signal sensor portfolio from ams OSRAM. Announced earlier in 2026 for a purchase price of €570 million, the transaction has secured all necessary regulatory approvals and officially closed. This strategic move strengthens Infineon's market position as a leader in sensors for the automotive, industrial, and medical sectors. As part of the integration, approximately 230 employees with expertise in research and development and business management have joined Infineon across three new global locations.
The newly acquired business is projected to generate approximately €230 million in revenue during the 2026 calendar year. From a financial perspective, the deal is anticipated to be immediately accretive to Infineon’s earnings per share upon closing. Infineon structured the transaction on a debt-free and cash-free basis, planning to fund it through additional debt in alignment with its broader corporate financing strategy. To guarantee production and delivery continuity for existing customers, the acquisition agreement also includes a multi-year supply arrangement with ams OSRAM.
This transaction fundamentally expands Infineon's product range by incorporating critical mixed-signal products and advanced medical imaging technologies. The newly integrated portfolio includes specialized application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) utilized as sensor interfaces, alongside solutions specifically tailored for computed tomography (CT) systems and digital X-ray equipment. In addition to medical advancements, the assets significantly bolster Infineon's high-precision positioning, capacitive sensing, and temperature measurement capabilities.
These enhanced sensor technologies will be integrated into Infineon's Edge Systems division to support a wide array of emerging applications. Within the automotive industry, the sensors are designed to improve vehicle safety and performance through features like hands-on detection and chassis position sensing. Furthermore, the portfolio supports angle and position sensing for robotics, directly aligning with Infineon’s long-term strategy to deliver complete, system-level solutions that combine sensing, processing, and connectivity for edge applications.
