TE Connectivity to acquire power solutions provider Astrodyne
TE Connectivity (NYSE: TEL) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Astrodyne TDI from the private investment firm Tinicum L.P. for approximately $1.4 billion. Announced on July 22, 2026, the transaction is expected to close by the end of calendar year 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Upon closing, Astrodyne TDI will become part of TE Connectivity's Automation & Connected Living sector, operating under its current leadership team.
Astrodyne TDI specializes in the design and manufacture of advanced power management and filtering solutions for demanding, mission-critical applications. The New Jersey-headquartered company delivers custom-engineered power supplies and electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters utilized across semiconductor manufacturing, medical technology, aerospace, defense, and industrial automation. Following the acquisition, Astrodyne TDI is expected to contribute more than $250 million in annual sales to TE Connectivity's operations.
This $1.4 billion acquisition is a strategic move to expand TE Connectivity’s power technology portfolio within its Industrial Solutions segment. By integrating Astrodyne TDI’s deep engineering expertise in power conversion and EMC solutions, TE Connectivity aims to strengthen its ability to provide integrated power, signal, and data technologies to industrial customers. The addition of Astrodyne's capabilities complements TE's existing lineup of connectivity and sensor products, allowing the combined entity to better address increasingly complex system architectures.
TE Connectivity management indicated that the Astrodyne TDI transaction is expected to be accretive to both growth and profit margins. The $1.4 billion purchase price represents roughly 5.6 times Astrodyne TDI’s projected annual sales, reflecting TE Connectivity's willingness to invest in specialized technologies that align with secular growth trends. Financial markets reacted dynamically to the fiscal third-quarter announcement, balancing the company's upbeat quarterly earnings beat with the newly introduced acquisition-related variables.
